Smith, a notable boat builder, captain, and architect, is remembered for his significant contributions to maritime excellence in the region. His children and grandchildren are proud to continue his legacy. Smith Ferry provides reliable services between the U.S. and British Virgin Islands while supporting the tourism market.
We offer daily routes between Tortola and St.Thomas, as well as twice per week service to Anegada with a stop in Virgin Gorda. Additionally, we provide charter services to outer islands such as St.Croix, Puerto Rico and others in the Leeward Islands.

Captain Rikky Baynes leads the operational efforts at Smiths Ferry, bringing extensive knowledge in refurbishing and maintaining motor vessels—a skill inspired by his grandfather’s legacy in maritime. With a hands-on approach and over a decade of experience as a captain, Rikky also runs the charter service portion of our business. His commitment to excellence and innovation has greatly enhanced our operational efficiency. Outside of work, Rikky enjoys exploring the waters with his three young children.
